In my household we might be a bit more passionate for carrots than other people since we are vegetarian. I have always been a fan of carrots.
A Rabbit made me Love Carrots
One of the reasons I became a fan of carrots at an early age was watching the Disney Channel. I remember Rabbit (character from the Winnie the Pooh Series) would mention how they could help you see better. I remember I had my fair share of carrots and I felt mislead because I still needed to use glasses for reading and working on the computer (although most of my eyesight has been affected because of the many hours spent in front of one).
Then there was good old Bugs Bunny. I am also happy to say that the only habit I learned from Bug’s was eating carrots eventhough I do prefer them cooked.
Over the years I have attempted to include carrots into many things I consume and to a certain point I lost my respect for them.
Carrots A Multi-Use Tool
I have thought of many uses for carrots but I would have never thought of taking a frozen carrot and using it to soothe my 7-month daughter’s gum and teething pain.
We started giving our daughter frozen carrots to soothe the pain and it worked perfectly. After discussing it with our daughter’s pediatrician he confirmed that it was a great idea.
Eco Friendly
This is an eco-friendly and healthy remedy different to plastic or any other teething rings. The only residue that comes out of the Carrot is pure vitamins which can help our daughter in receiving key nutrients. She sucks on them until they become warm and we give them to our dog JuanGa to eat.
Natures Pacifier
We decided not to give our daughter a pacifier (it was her mom’s good decision) and when she needs one it comes in the most natural form.
I can think of many ways of using carrots but using it to soothe a child’s gums was a new one for me. We have also tried papaya and other fruits but the good think about the carrot is that it makes less of a mess.
What other remedies have you used to soothe your baby’s teething or gum pains?
Or in what other ways have you used carrots, which we might be able to use on veglatino.com.
Once again I have to thank the Mighty Carrot for giving us peace of mind many times during the week and day.

Hi Raul,
That is such an ingenious, healthy solution for teething babies — brilliant! And the dog gets a healthy treat, too! What a great idea. 🙂
As for other ways I’ve used carrots, putting them in vegetarian meatloaf is one way I like to use them. My favorite juice is carrot-ginger juice.

Hi Claudene, this was after asking others for their remedies with their little ones. I got many answers from using medicine like ambesol to rubbing a little alcohol (vodka) on her her gums. I had asked for holistic remedies and some folks thought that alcohol was included. I searched the internet and found the carrot solution as one that was holistic in nature, wasn’t plastic, and did not involve buying medication.
