Our daughter is lucky to have her grandfather’s around. Up until 2009 Raul had his grandfather, Abuelo Irving with him and my grandfather’s both died in the 1980’s. Raul’s Abuelo Nacho is also alive so Daniela has met one of her Great-Grandfather’s. Not many of us are that lucky.
I loved both of my grandfather’s and got to meet and spend time with both Abuelo Osvaldo and Abuelo Eduviges. Unfortunately they did not get to see us in adulthood because they both died when I was in elementary school. We did take pictures of our grandfather’s every chance we could when we visited with them whether they were in Puerto Rico or living in the states.
Daniela is lucky that she can go and visit her Abuelo Hector and see the chickens, geese, and guinea hens. As she spends more time with Abuelo Hector, she will get to know how much he loves her in his own way. She recently spent time with her Abuelo Tito and danced the day away at her aunt’s wedding.
She is surrounded by positive men on a daily basis like Melvin, Resat, and Amaury; all of them have shown her how loving men can be towards children that are not even family. She has her Tio Tito that loves her so much he will do anything to make her happy. Her other uncles Javier and Luis are just getting to know how special she can be.
Most importantly she is surrounded by her dad Raul. She couldn’t ask for a better dad who is patient, stern, loving, gentle, happy, positive, a mover and a shaker.
Happy Father’s Day to all those men who are here with us or have passed on. Happy Father’s Day to Rick and Raul who keep this blog running with their honest feelings about Fatherhood through their words and drawings!
