Here's me finally being able to carry Yamil. Very emotional moment.
I know of a child whose path, in his short 10 month life has been of pure hardship. His health issues are so great, death has been close on various ocations.
Yamil Colón Mercado came into existence on December 17th, 2010. He had a twin sister who mysteriously and unexpectedly died on last march. The family was devastated, to say the least. Fortunately, her death served to give life to her brother. When she died, Camila opened her doctors eyes to a few possible reasons for her demise. They went and did a few tests on Yamil and found out that he was following in the same path. He was diagnosed with a type of cancer.
The economical situation of his family does not help much, for the tests and procedures are of a very high cost. Our local government has given them the necessary funds to cover a bone marrow transplant which he needs, and his older brother (5) will serve as the donor. But the weekly procedures and chemotherapy are not covered for.

As I read this it really breaks my heart to read about all the trials this baby has had to go through. His family looks very united and I am sure that Yamil has more strength than many adults.
Indeed. I believe Yamil has the heart of a Titan and the strength of a Gladiator.
